Learn Why Guided Meditations Are Easier to Perform and Great for Beginners

As a holistic discipline with the goal being to acquire deep relaxation and heightened awareness, meditation has long been used as a method of attaining inner peace, a pivotal state of being which is especially necessary in the modern, hustle-and-bustle  society in which we live today. Meditation often has religious associations, yet it can also be practiced simply for the sake of practicing. And there are a couple of different options when it comes to the type of meditation that you can perform, namely mindfulness and guided. Here, I am going to go into further detail about guided meditations.

What are Guided Meditations?

What exactly are guided meditations?

Well, in a nut shell, guided meditation is a technique in which your meditation session does not fly completely solo. Rather, you adhere to special story or script that you listen to either on a CD, MP3, or some other type of audio file. Performing a guided meditation can be helpful if you have trouble getting inspired with your meditation or finding a direction to take.

In general, a guided meditation story or script lasts between five and thirty minutes. In using a guided meditation story or script, you are provided with the necessary guidance so that your conscious mind, imagination, and subconscious are free to follow along with the words. Consequently, your body is allowed to relax and your mind is able to maintain focus and awareness on the words and sounds that it is hearing.

Since guided meditation is generally easier to do than solo meditation, it is often the preferred choice for people who are new to meditation and wish to test the waters with a more hand-holding experience.

Guided meditation is just as effective as solo meditation, however, so you can expect to achieve the same level of relaxation and spiritual development.

In fact, some people believe guided meditations to be even more effective given that if you fall asleep during a guided meditation session your subconscious mind can still reap the benefits. Guided meditation helps you to relinquish thoughts of the outside world and attain a clear and peaceful state of mind.

Our minds are like computers filled with a practically infinite supply of data and information, all of which can be programmed and reprogrammed. Therefore, if you would like to change your state of mind to think more positively or to become more productive, then guided meditations can assist you with accomplishing these types of goals.

Countless people have achieved great success using guided meditation techniques, and their experiences are typically that of healing, self-discovery, and inner happiness, the importance of which cannot be underestimated. Through guided meditation, you can gain a fresh perspective on your life and discover information about yourself that you may not have ever known before.
