Check Out This Must-Try Meditation Breathing Technique

If you practice meditation on a regular basis, then you know how important your breathing is. But if you have never practiced meditation before, then you should know that meditation breathing is a little different from how you typically breathe, and there are different breathing techniques that you can employ, depending on the type of meditation that you are practicing.

Recently, I received an email from one of my subscribers who was kind and generous enough to share a new meditation breathing technique with me, which you can learn all about for yourself if you continue reading below.

This meditation breathing technique is very simple.

To perform this technique, you need to breathe in and then count how many seconds it takes you to inhale. Then, you need to do the same thing when you exhale; time how long it takes you to breathe the air back out.

You may need to do this several times in order to collect the average number of seconds that it takes you to inhale and exhale so that you can figure out how long you take in general.

Once you have ascertained the length of time that it naturally takes you to both inhale and exhale, try to stick to this same duration each time that you draw breath in and then release it back out.

Say, for example, you discover that it takes you seven seconds to inhale and another seven seconds to exhale, each time that you breathe in and out, try to make it last for seven seconds.

Seven is just a for instance number, however. You may take longer or you may take less time. Additionally, your inhalations and exhalations may not last for the same length of time either. But in any case, when you perform meditation breathing, you generally want your breathes to last longer than you would during normative breathing when you are not meditating.

As my subscriber puts it, “There is something to be said for ‘listening to one’s own breathing.’ I think it calms the mind to focus on something that is so simple and serene,” and I have to say that I couldn’t agree more!

Your breath is your life force. And when you become more in tune with it, you are training your mind and body to act as one complete unit.

Furthermore, as something else to keep in mind, my subscriber says there are four natural elements: earth, water, fire, and wind (air). So perhaps, it would be beneficial to find ways of focusing on the element that you feel the most in tune with. Astrology can play a role in ascertaining which element you have the strongest link to. For example, as an Aquarius, I would probably most strongly identify with the element wind or air.

With that said, my subscriber also notes something very important, which is that “One’s own mind is truly the master of their own Universe.”

To conclude, meditation is a wonderful practice, and there are so many benefits to be gained. And one of the most important factors to keep in mind is your focus. You need to be able to maintain your focus in order to successfully meditate. And focusing on your breathing by way of different meditation breathing techniques is a great way to go about doing this.
