Improve Your Life Through the Practice of Meditation

The world that we live in is very fast-paced with a lot of hustle and bustle going on at any given moment. There are some days when we are so busy that we barely have time to sit down for five minutes from the time that we wake up to the time that are exhausted heads hit the pillow again at night. Living this kind of lifestyle on a daily basis definitely can take a major toll on us both physically and mentally.

Therefore, the practice of meditation can really come in handy when it comes to alleviating some of the stress and anxiety that we experience in our lives

If you are a seasoned practitioner of meditation, then I’m sure I don’t need to say much more in order to convince you of its value to your overall health and sense of well-being. But if you have never performed the practice of meditation before, then please allow me to now share with you some of the wonderful benefits that you can expect to achieve if you perform meditation on a regular basis.

Anyone can practice meditation. And you certainly don’t need to be a guru or have any prior training in order to benefit from it. Furthermore, while sometimes meditation can be associated with yoga, it is not required that you practice both meditation and yoga at the same time. Your meditation will work just fine for you if you perform it by itself.

With that said, there are so many different meditation techniques that you can practice, including guided meditation, mindfulness meditation, Vipassana meditation, and walking meditation. Each type is performed with some variation, but the overall effect is generally similar. So the type of meditation that you decide to perform is pretty much entirely a matter of personal preference. I would recommend that you test out a variety of different methods before you commit to just one to see which one you prefer and which one fits into your lifestyle the best.

When you are just starting out with meditation, one of the first things that I would suggest doing is writing down what goals you would like to accomplish through your meditation. For example, some of your meditation goals might be enhancing your creativity or your ability to concentrate. Then, after writing down your goals, hold them in your mind as you meditate.

If you practice meditation on a regular basis, you can expect to feel less stressed out and/or anxious. You can also expect both your blood pressure and you heart rate to be lowered and to enhance your immune system… which means fewer sick days thanks to the practice of meditation. Through meditation you can also expect to be able to focus more on your job and other responsibilities and to improve your memory and your creativity. Basically, there are so many meditation benefits to be gained, and they can affect not only your mind, but also your spirit and your body as well.

That being said, she doesn’t always remember to meditate… … and is working on practicing more often. She finds that guided meditations help a lot, though. It can be really difficult to get still yourself, so having someone point you in the direction you want to take is priceless. When not meditating, Rachel has several other passions.
